RECOMMENDED TATTOO AFTERCARE GUIDANCE
FROM PAIN DIVINE

Aftercare

Your artist will give you their recommended way of looking after your new tattoo, so pay close attention to what they say!

We have aftercare products available for purchase at the studio, just ask your artist or someone at the front desk for it.

Simple steps to follow

  • Keep your tattoo clean! It is best to avoid long showers or baths for at least 2 weeks.
  • Don't let the sun get to it and don't go swimming until it's healed.
(Best to plan far ahead if you're planning to show it off on holiday!)
  • Your tattoo will scab and itch as it heals - scratching can cause damage to the tattoo, keep it moisturised or give it a light tap to alleviate any irritation.

Washing the tattoo

Gently use your fingertips to wash the tattoo using mild antibacterial soap and warm water. Rub in small, gentle circles to effectively remove all traces of plasma/ink/blood/etc -
Do not scrub the tattoo.
Once the tattoo is clean, pat it dry with paper towel and leave it alone for about 20 minutes or until it is completely dried out.
Once it is dry, apply a very thin amount of your aftercare lotion and rub in small circles to work it well into the skin, ensure that there is no excess by rubbing it all in or by removing with a paper towel.
The lotion is in place so as to keep the tattoo moistened to avoid harsh scabbing - do not use anything with harsh chemicals, aim for entirely natural products.
After you've cleaned and begun your lotion application process, continue to apply a thin coat of lotion at least twice a day.
