After care –

What you put on your body eventually goes through you skin. There are many tattoo products out there but not all are safe to use. Toxic-free, synthetic chemical-free products are by far the best, but at the same time, a simple and effective moisturiser will sometime be just as effective. What matters most is that you pay attention and respect the fact that you have just received an intensive piece of body art applied to your skin. Aftercare products that absorb quickly and provide protection against drying, forming scabs and colour gaps, minimise the chance of infection and aids faster healing. If used regularly, these products rejuvenate and preserve the clarity of your tattoo.

Simple steps to follow

Remove the wrapping/bandage after Four hours. All wounds need to breathe in order to heal properly and the fresh air will aid the healing process to your new piece of body art.

Washing the tattoo:

Gently use your fingertips or hand only. Wash the tattoo using a mild antibacterial soap and warm water. Remove all traces of blood as this will cause scabbing. Do not scrub the tattoo with a washcloth during the two week healing period. Pat it dry with a clean, soft cloth or paper towel and leave it alone for about 20 minutes.

Apply a thin coat of lotion at least 3 times a day. Work it in well. Remove any of the excess with a tissue. There should be just enough to keep the tattoo moist and to keep it from scabbing. Do not re-bandage the tattoo.

Keep your tattoo clean! However, avoid long showers or baths for up to 2 weeks.

Don’t let the sun get to it and don’t go swimming until it’s healed. Best to plan far ahead if you’re intending to show it off on holiday!

As it heals, your tattoo will scab and itch but scratching it can cause damage to the tattoo.

Repeat the cycle of washing, drying, and applying ointment to the tattoo about 3-4 times per day for the first 3 days (while the tattoo feels tender).

Following all of these simple steps will ensure that you end up with the best result with minimal complications and your tattoo will stay looking bright and beautiful for many years to come.
